Kadampa Meditation Center Washington was established by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in 1994 to offer the people of Seattle in particular, and the Pacitic Northwest generally, the opportunity to listen to, contemplate, and meditate on the ancient teachings of Buddha in a modern setting.
Kadampa Meditation Center Washington is part of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), a non-profit organization with a global network of over 1,200 centers and groups in over 45 countries.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Kadampa Meditation Center Washington is run solely by volunteers. During open hours there is a volunteer receptionist who can answer any questions and tell you more about the Center. We offer regular drop-in classes, retreats for both beginners and those with an established meditation practice, and structured study programs for those looking for deeper study and meditation.
Located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle and offering branch classes around the area, Kadampa Meditation Center Washington is a peaceful oasis where anyone can learn methods to experience lasting happiness. Everyone is welcome!
