Fundamentals for Successful Meditation July 23rd, 9am - 1pm

With the right techniques, anyone can begin and sustain a successful daily meditation practice. Join us for this special half day course where we’ll explore the methods taught by Buddha for establishing a regular meditation practice. We’ll examine the Buddhist way of thinking as well as the practical side of setting up a daily practice. Everyone welcome. Class 1: Introduction to Buddhism In class 1 of the course you will learn the fundamentals of Buddhist view and how they apply to meditation, ie training the mind. Applying these methods in your everyday life will lead to happiness and a sense of purpose and harmony in your relationships. Class 2: Setting up a Shrine In class 2 of the course you will learn why setting up a beautiful, inspiring space to practice formal meditation is helpful for a successful meditation practice. We’ll look at the practicalities of what to include on your shrine and why. Class 3: Introduction to Meditation In class 3 of the course you will learn the basic of meditation, from why we would want to meditate to the “technical” matters of how to do it. The class will include some guided meditations and time for questions.
