Refuge Retreat

Preliminary Guide Retreat

In-Depth. Self -Guided Retreat

November 1-4, 2026

Going for refuge is the first of the four great preliminary guides. Through training in sincerely going for refuge we enter the gateway to Buddhism, and through training in the compassionate mind of bodhichitta we enter the gateway to the Mahayana, the main path to enlightenment.

If we do not have a practice of refuge in the Three Jewels we will not enter Buddhism and have no opportunity to attain permanent liberation from suffering or the supreme happiness of enlightenment. Then we will have lost the meaning of human life.

Kadam Trina will give an introductory talk to this retreat on Sunday, Nov 1, 7-9 pm. Although this is a Teacher Training Program retreat everyone is welcome. However, the sessions are self-guided, using the practice Essence of Good Fortune.
