Weekly Drop-In Classes

Each of our weekly drop-in classes is self-contained and explores the simple and powerful meditation methods taught by Buddha to transform our world by transforming our mind. By learning how to find peace from our own distracted and disturbed states of mind through meditation, we find a happy and meaningful life and make a significant contribution to peace and harmony in our world.

Everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary. Drop-in any class!

The Essential Practices of Kadampa Buddhism

Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm with Kadam Trina

The daily meditation practice in Kadampa Buddhism is Heart Jewel. By relying upon this practice, we can purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive blessings. In this way, we will naturally accomplish all the realizations of the stages of the path to enlightenment.

In these classes we will be exploring teachings from the book, The New Eight Steps to Happiness, written by the renowned Buddhist Master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

Suitable for children aged 5 - 11 years
Each class is self-contained

Parents of younger children or children with short attentions are encouraged to stay in classes with their children to help your child participate. Otherwise, parents are welcome to attend the Sunday morning meditation class that happens simultaneously.  A parent or trusted guardian must remain on the premises while their child is attending class.

Kids Meditation Class

The Children’s class includes singing a prayer, interactive teaching on keeping a peaceful mind and a loving heart, short meditation, and coloring or other activities.

Children will be on the main floor, while adults have the option to be with their children or participate in the adult meditation class upstairs.

July 5 No Kids Class - Fourth of July Holiday

August 2 No Kids Class - Int. Summer Festival

Sept 6 No regular classes - Meditation in the Heart Lamrim Retreat

Suggested for ages 5 to 11.
Older (or quiet) children are welcome in the adult class.
Dharma for Kids is offered freely and supported by donations.

Kadam Trina Gunther is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington. She has been a dedicated practitioner of modern Kadampa Buddhism since 2004.

Kadam Trina is an inspiring example of a lay practitioner of Kadampa Buddhism, and brings with her a wealth of experience of integrating Buddha's teachings with busy daily life. She offers a practical perspective to spiritual practice to help anyone apply Buddha's profound insights and meditations to their busy working and family lives with clarity and joy.
